Undergraduate Med-Surg Faculty Position, Jefferson College of Nursing, Thomas Jefferson University, Lehigh Valley Campus

Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants with experience in medical-surgical nursing to join our team. This full-time, 12-month faculty position is part of the Undergraduate Program, based at our Lehigh Valley Campus in Center Valley, PA.

About the role

The primary responsibility of this role is to uphold academic integrity through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and student learning experiences across classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings. The applicant must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of nursing curriculum within the undergraduate program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty for course planning and projections
• Identify needed resources
• Oversee selection of clinical preceptors and clinical sites
• Oversee student clinical placement and progression
• Collaborate with Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes
• Teach future nurses in the classroom and clinical settings
• Serve as advisors and mentors for students
• Participate in college meetings and committees
• Demonstrate ongoing clinical competency and participate in professional activities related to area of clinical expertise
• Participate in scholarly activities, apart from personal academic pursuits
• Participate in recruitment activities of the College and University
• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Enterprise
• Serve on College committee(s) as assigned and participate in College and University activities throughout the year
• Utilize contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings

Requirements

• Master’s degree in nursing required
• Doctoral degree preferred; candidates who do not have a doctoral degree must be currently enrolled in a doctoral program
• Eligible/current for licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
• Medical-surgical (Med-Surg) experience required
• Previous teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation, and supporting students in their journey to become advanced practice nurses or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills
