Undergraduate Internship - Earth and Environmental Science

About the role

The Earth and Environmental Science (EES) Undergraduate Student Program offers paid internships for undergraduate students in various Earth science and data-driven disciplines. Interns contribute to innovative solutions in areas like global security, sustainable energy, and environmental change, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of solutions to complex Earth science problems
• Assist in the development of critical assessments supporting national security missions
• Collaborate on research projects, including fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and data analysis
• Apply AI and machine learning techniques for Earth systems modeling, remote sensing, and predictive analytics

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Physical Sciences
• Minimum 12 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent) in an accredited degree program
• Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
• Entering first-year students must provide matriculation documentation

Desired Qualifications

• Computer programming skills in scientific data acquisition or analysis
• Experience with experimental techniques relevant to your scientific field
• Laboratory experience demonstrating attention to detail and safety
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Commitment to achieving results in complex social and organizational settings

Work Location

The internship is located onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
