About the Role

This position provides security for patients, guests, and employees; enforces company policies and procedures; and performs assigned duties that ensure the security of patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
  • Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
  • Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
  • Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration.
  • Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
  • Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
  • Operates and manages the visitor management system.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance.
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (within 30 days from hire).
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of practice and clean DMV report.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (within 60 days from hire).
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification (to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire).
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
  • This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11+ floor structures.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on-call availability).

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
  • The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms.
  • There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
  • There may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
