About the role

Bethany Christian Services is a nonprofit organization working across 29 states to ensure children are safe, loved, and connected through family. Our mission is rooted in Christian faith and we support families, foster care and adoption, and refugees with compassion. The role of a URM Foster Care Case Manager involves providing comprehensive case management services, assessing potential placements, and supporting foster teens and young adults.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally and comprehensive case management services, maintaining caseload compliance.
  • Absorb potential placements for Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) through interviews and home study investigations.
  • Assist with the home study of and licensure of foster families.
  • Document all required reports, case notes, and contacts in the appropriate database within expected timeframes.
  • Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement using child welfare principles and social work best practices.
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases and review case plans and directions.
  • Attend and prepare for court hearings.
  • Meet with foster teens and young adults at least once a month.
  • Serve as an interpreter and translator for clients who speak Spanish, as needed.
  • May serve as a co-therapist, as needed.
  • Provide transportation to clients for medical appointments, foster homes, and other social agencies, as needed.
  • Assist with the training of new staff, as requested.
  • Facilitate and support the provision of on-going education and support services for foster parents, attending all relevant meetings.
  • Participate in internal trainings and apply newly acquired knowledge on the job.
  • Lead or co-lead therapeutic or educational groups.
  • Maintain accurate and updated records of foster teens and young adults in care, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about community resources and refer families for support, as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with community resources and individuals involved in service provision.
  • Stay current with all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a Social Services field from an accredited college.
  • At least one (1) year of prior case management experience in child and family services, preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse group of clients, including refugees or other minority families.
  • Availability for on-call duties on a rotating basis, typically once per month.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical, therapeutic, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S., to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
