Ultrasound Technologist RVT
About the Role
As an Ultrasound Technologist at Valley Regional Medical Center - Harlingen, you will perform a variety of technical procedures requiring rational independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in Ultrasounds and Radiology procedures, aligned with departmental functions and goals. This position is located at the Harlingen FSED.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate competency in U/S transducers, including construction, properties, crystal thickness, wavelength, frequency spectrum, resonance, and damping.
- Demonstrate competency in transducers beam configuration, near and far field, focal zone, and beam profile.
- Demonstrate competency in pulse characteristics, pulse repetition frequency, pulse repetition period, and spatial pulse length.
- Demonstrate competency in technical factors for diagnostic quality images, including focal zone, depth, amplitude dynamic range, compression, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), digital-to-analog converter (DAC), brightness, and contrast.
- Demonstrate competency in various display modes, real-time imaging, echogenicity of reflectors, echotextures, and artifacts.
- Demonstrate competency in obstetrics, including first trimester, standard measurements (e.g., heart rate, CRL, MSD), maternal anatomy (uterus, cervix, adnexa), and embryonic anatomy.
- Demonstrate competency in high-risk and complicated pregnancies, including multiple gestations (chorionicity, amnionicity, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, conjoined) and fetal biophysical profile.
- Demonstrate accuracy in Meditech training by sending work requests and displaying/printing a variety of reports.
- Demonstrate competency with critical behaviors and age-specific care.
- Demonstrate appropriate equipment disinfection between patients.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school of Sonography with an Associate degree.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- ARDMS (abdomen) certified.
- RVT or RVS certification (1-year grace period).
- Vascular and other subspecialties are preferred.
