About the Role

Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Produces images of internal body tissues to diagnose and monitor conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy, and cancer. Supervises and mentors ultrasound personnel and maintains equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient’s body and capture quality images describing the composition, shape, and motion of tissues, organs, vessels, and pathology.
  • Summarizes, documents, verifies, and presents images, findings, calculations, and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
  • Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions, and standards.
  • Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate. Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures, and continually monitors and records vital signs.
  • Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervenes as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records, files, and billing information while adhering to HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
  • Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate from an Ultrasound college/school: Required
  • Certification and current registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics (OB), or Vascular (RVT); or Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI-RVS); or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or (VS) within one year of hire: Required in CA and HI (multiple areas preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $45.39 to $62.26 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, or bonuses. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

Schedule

Shift length: 8 hours (Per Diem).
