About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist in General Sonography. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. Depending on the work location, the Ultrasound Technologist may also oversee daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer maintains high standards of medical ethics, self-motivation, and a commitment to increasing their understanding and knowledge of the field, diseases, and evolving procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas as ordered.
  • Produces diagnostic images for interpretation by a physician.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Ultrasound equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum, including performing exams and evaluating images.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies; reports equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately utilizes systems, including proper exam coding and timely completion of exams.
  • Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to physicians for interpretation, minimizing exceptions.
  • Prepares patients using proper positioning and/or immobilization, providing clear instructions regarding the procedure.
  • Ensures quality review of images falls within departmental Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma or Graduate of an accredited two-year Ultrasound Program required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) required.
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
  • Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
  • Strength sufficient to lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels (up to approximately 500 lbs), and move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Ultrasound experience.
  • 3-5 years of OB/GYN, small parts, and/or vascular experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $60.00 - $60.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
