About the role

This hospital-based position performs General, OB/MFM, ultrasound guided interventional procedures, acute/STAT exams. The role involves floating to perform different exam types such as OB/MFM, ER, procedures, biopsies, inpatient, outpatient, and some OR cases. We are looking for candidates with strong OB experience, some MFM experience, ultrasound-guided procedures, FNA's/biopsies, hospital-based experience with ER, and registered (ARDMS/CCI) technologists.

Banner Estrella Medical Center is a 353-bed acute care hospital providing a full range of health care services to the growing communities of west Phoenix. Opened in 2005, this innovative, fully electronic facility features electronic medical records, computerized physician order entry, digital radiography, and sophisticated ICU monitoring. The hospital is recognized for its soothing, healing atmosphere and offers therapies such as pet therapy, aromatherapy, spiritual care, and Reiki Therapy.

Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM. Holiday rotation and call rotation required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers’ orders.
  • Adheres to established protocols and provides pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologists for complete dictation.
  • Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams.
  • Scans patients of all ages, acuity levels, and classes independently and without quality issues.
  • Performs problem-solving, triages orders, and effectively communicates findings with Radiologists.
  • Produces efficient images with high-quality output.
  • Performs ultrasound-guided procedures and works closely with radiologists or providers.
  • Educates patients and families regarding procedures and treatments to be performed.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions.
  • Fosters teamwork, ensures efficient use of resources, and advocates for quality patient outcomes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert within their two registries.
  • May present at team meetings and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs quality control checks on images and equipment as requested.
  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Facilitates and follows up on repairs and maintenance for equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, adhering to safety policies.
  • Consistently documents findings in a professional and clear manner.
  • Follows standardized protocols without variation and captures high-quality images in the standardized format.
  • Ensures patient questions are answered in a timely manner.
  • Deciphers between incorrect and correct orders and advocates for patients to ensure exams performed will provide diagnostic answers supporting continued care.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable.
  • Maintains proficiency and competencies for all studies related to certifications.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced technologists and may serve as a preceptor to train new staff.
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to facilitate uninterrupted services.
  • Continuously supports modality and department initiatives for expedited patient throughput.

Requirements

  • National certification in two areas of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Clinical knowledge typically achieved with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Effective communication skills, human relations skills, and ability to analyze data and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
