About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking an Ultrasonographer to perform ultrasonic imaging examinations for patients in ANMC clinics. ANTHC is a non-profit Tribal health organization serving over 171,000 Alaska Native and American Indian people.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasonic imaging examinations according to department procedures.
  • Locates and records internal elements of the body, including blood vessels and organs, and identifies any anomalies indicative of disease, injury, or other medically significant conditions.
  • Performs ultrasound evaluations, including screenings, film interpretation, and level 3 obstetrical ultrasounds.
  • Assists physician with invasive procedures.
  • Performs portable procedures when needed.
  • A djusts equipment and calms patient to eliminate test artifacts.
  • Monitors the patient for potentially dangerous physical and emotional changes.
  • Recognizes abnormal changes and immediately notifies physician.
  • Evaluates test results for clarity and accuracy; able to review tests with peers.
  • Informs physicians of preliminary findings as requested and according to Department procedures.
  • Distributes completed test results to physicians and service providers.
  • Maintains patient charts, enters diagnosis and billing codes, logs data into patient information systems, and updates file systems for tests performed.
  • On call responsibility is an expectation of the position with on-site arrival within one (1) hour of contact.
  • Cleans and sterilizes equipment and work space.
  • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and readjusts equipment or refers for repair.
  • Trains and cross-trains other clinical staff as required.
  • Instructs patients in pretest preparation, answers questions and explains procedures.

Qualifications

  • All A ssociate’s Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
  • Progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
  • U LTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST I: None
  • U LTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST II: Non-Supervisory: Two (2) years of professional work experience in Ultrasound.
  • U LTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST III: Non-Supervisory: Four (4) years of professional work experience in Ultrasound.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound film processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of anatomy/physiology and disease process.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound imaging examination protocols and patient preparation for evaluation.
  • Skill in interpersonal relationships.
  • Skill in monitoring patient responses.
  • Skill in utilizing ultrasonic equipment and performing ultrasound testing procedures.
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time position with flexible scheduling to accommodate patient needs.
