Ultrasound Technologist - Days
Job Summary
$ 10,000 Sign on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for an ultrasound Tech I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include ultrasound Tech II based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. Job Duties
- Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
- Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
- Prepares and/or administers, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
- Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
- Collaborates with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures.
- Ensures equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner.
- Performs diagnostic, interventional, sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities.
- Independently reviews symptoms and medical history to determine the correct exam for the patient.
- Evaluates orders and requests for procedures to assure correct scheduling of patient exams.
- Performs noninvasive vascular laboratory tests (if applicable).
- Independently provides preliminary interpretation of the test results (if applicable), including level of disease, incidental findings, results, outliers, contradictory and unexpected test results, and need for additional testing, urgency of care and reporting to provider.
Job Requirements
- The Following Certification Required Upon Hire:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification andRadiology: ARDMS (preferred ABD, OB/GYN) credential required upon hire.
- If vascular credential is required at site – ARDMS (RVT) or RVS credential must be obtained within one year of hire.
- Maternity Fetal Medicine: ARDMS (OB/GYN) required upon hire.
- Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Pediatric Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) preferred.
- Vascular: ARDMS (RVT) or RVS credential required upon hire.
