Ultrasound Technician / PRN / Call Only

About the role

Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures under indirect supervision of a Radiologist, including assisting with invasive US biopsies. Accurately capture and evaluate ultrasound images, documenting findings and communicating results to the Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging equipment such as transducers, cameras, printers, RIS, and PACS systems, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory management.
• Explain procedures to patients, address questions to reduce anxiety, and maintain a professional and courteous environment.
• Handle all RIS functions including order entry and billing.
• Ensure safety by reporting hazards, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
• Maintain competencies across ultrasound procedures and assist in other imaging department areas when needed.
• Operate and disinfect probes with high-level disinfection systems.

Physical demands

• Lifting over 20 pounds.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Using fine motor skills.

Qualifications

• Registered with ARDMS in physics, vascular, and abdominal preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Associates degree or higher.
• Current BLS certification.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills.
• Ability to maintain safety standards and operate ultrasound and RIS/PACS systems effectively.
