Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound techniques and examination, including abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, by selecting proper technical factors on individual patient basis.
  • Observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort.
  • Transports patient to and from exam room/table, prepares and maintains room.
  • Acquires digital images and evaluates for technical quality.
  • Assists physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications.
  • Affords assistance in coordinating daily workflow for the department’s activities.
  • Maintains equipment in efficient operating order.
  • Performs and documents all required quality control testing.
  • Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed.
  • Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates.
  • Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed.
  • Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area.
  • Maintains stock and inventory as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program for diagnostic medical sonography.
  • At least 10 months clinical ultrasound experience.
  • Sonography Principles & Instrumentation - Certificate.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible, including passing SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification.
  • Diagnostics Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - License or RVT credentialed, including passing one of the following exams: Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology.
  • Two (2) or more ARDMS specialty credentials.
