Responsibilities
- Performs ultrasound techniques and examination, including abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, by selecting proper technical factors on individual patient basis.
- Observes patient during procedure to ensure patient's safety and comfort.
- Transports patient to and from exam room/table, prepares and maintains room.
- Acquires digital images and evaluates for technical quality.
- Assists physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications.
- Affords assistance in coordinating daily workflow for the department’s activities.
- Maintains equipment in efficient operating order.
- Performs and documents all required quality control testing.
- Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed.
- Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates.
- Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed.
- Maintains an orderly, clean and safe environment of patients and staff in assigned area.
- Maintains stock and inventory as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited program for diagnostic medical sonography.
- At least 10 months clinical ultrasound experience.
- Sonography Principles & Instrumentation - Certificate.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible, including passing SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification.
- Diagnostics Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - License or RVT credentialed, including passing one of the following exams: Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology.
- Two (2) or more ARDMS specialty credentials.
