Qualifications
- Vocational / Technical Degree in Ultrasound Technology
- 0 - 1 year Ultrasound routine and interventional exams (Preferred)
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Sonography (S)(ARRT) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
Essential Functions
- Perform the ultrasound procedures according to the department protocols.
- Identify the patient according to hospital policy.
- Ensure the correct procedure is to be performed on the patient either by the patient's medical record or physician's orders.
- Set up procedure room for the exam.
- Explain the exam to the patient and/or family member.
- Ensure the exam is labeled correctly.
- QA the exam before it is released for interpretation.
- Perform very good customer service.
- Identify self to the patient and/or family.
- Explain exam/procedure to the patient.
- Show respect/courtesy to the patient and family.
- Greet the patient and their family in a friendly manner. (Smile)
- Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
- Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
- Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers/users.
- Uses correct terminology.
- Conforms to required style and format.
- Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
- Understands equipment operation.
- Maintains equipment in working order.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems.
- Uses technology to increase productivity.
- Adapts to new technology.
Additional Duties

- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
