Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist performs quality diagnostic medical sonograms to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging information for use in diagnosis and treatment, under the supervision of a qualified radiologist.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform various sonographic procedures for ultrasound diagnosis using pre-determined protocols.
- Prepare room, equipment, contrast media, and supplies necessary for each procedure.
- Provide explanation of procedures and assumes care of the physical and psychological needs of the patient while in radiology.
- Obtain clinical information and indication for all sonograms.
- Document appropriate patient history and clinical data as indicated into EHR.

- Knowledge of radiology best practices and requirements e.g., OSHA, CMS, and Joint Commission.
- Knowledge of healthcare supplies, logistics, and storage guidelines.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and other related privacy rules.
- Skill in problem-solving and analyzing issues in an efficient, methodical manner.
- Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in managing multiple priorities and delegating as needed.

Education & Experience
- Associate Degree in Radiology, or a related field, required.
- Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of ultrasonography, or comparable work experience in the practice specialty of abdomen and OB/Gyn required.
- General and Vascular sonographer certifications required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Ultrasound Technology required.
Working Conditions And Physical Effort
- This role operates in a healthcare setting.
- Must be able to: Stand 55% or longer of an 8-hour workday. Walk 35% of an 8-hour workday. Sit 10% of an 8-hour workday. Lift up to 35 pounds.
- Requires employee to: Bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally.
- Requires repetitive use of hands for: Simple grasping, fine manipulation, computer use.
- Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
