Job Description
A Day in the Life
- Patient Care & Safety: Delivers high-quality, safe echocardiography services aligned with Munson Healthcare’s mission, values, AIDET principles, patient identification standards, infection control, and emergency response (CPR, isolation procedures).
- Clinical Expertise: Performs a full range of echocardiographic studies (adult, limited pediatric exposure, stress, TEE, Doppler, contrast studies) under appropriate supervision, identifies critical findings, and promptly communicates life-threatening abnormalities.
- Physician & Team Support: Assists physicians with specialized procedures, collaborates with cardiologists for feedback and satisfaction, and supports other CDS procedures as needed.
- Operations & Workflow: Documentation, billing, charges, and digital reporting to ensure efficient operations and timely medical record completion.
- Equipment & Supplies: Maintains, cleans, calibrates, and troubleshoots equipment; ensures proper disinfection; and orders operational supplies.
- Professional Standards & Compliance: Maintains required credentials (ARDMS/CCI), meets IAC accreditation standards, completes annual competencies and testing, and stays current through continuing education.
- Flexibility & Continuous Improvement: Covers staffing needs, travels as required, performs related duties (ECG, stress testing), offers operational improvement suggestions, and completes additional assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
What’s Required
- Completion of college or hospital based Cardiovascular Program or Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, or completion of Allied Health Program approved by the AMA.
- Must be able to do 2D Echocardiograms, M-mode, PW & CW Doppler, Color Spectral Doppler and Transesophageal echocardiogram on adults, with some exposure to pediatric patients. In addition, must be able to do stress echocardiograms and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience performing Stress Echo/Dobutamine Stress Echo.
- Must be a Registered Cardiovascular Diagnostic Sonographer (RCDS) or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Must perform examinations in an acceptable time frame using a variety of complex equipment.
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of IV pumps and stress testing preparation.
- Vascular Experience Preferred
Additional Information
Schedule: Monday-Friday, no weekends, variable shifts between 7am-6pm
