Job Summary The Ultrasound Technologist produces two dimensional, ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to be used by the prescribing Physician in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of the malfunction of organs. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Select equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examinationExplain process to patient, and instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for examinationSelect transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other specifications of testKey test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test resultsMove transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced Summary Of Other Job Duties And Expectations Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical CenterExhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workersExhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job dutiesDemonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive workplace and customer environmentsWork as a team to continuously improve work quality.Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on in-patients Education And Experience Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school Experience: 1+ years related experience and/or training, breast ultrasound experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be registered or registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT. If registry eligible, the applicant must be ARDMS or ARRT registered within 3 months of employment. BLS required.
