Qualifications
- Completion of a CAHEA-approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Minimum 2 years of sonographer experience
- MFM experience required
- ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification
- Advanced specialty certification based on facility needs
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
- ARDMS certification in Abdominal and OB/GYN Ultrasound or Cardiac Sonography
- RVT Certification within two years of hire
- MFM certification preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols
- Verify physician orders and explain procedures to patients
- Operate ultrasound equipment independently and ensure diagnostic image quality
- Review and document imaging studies accurately
- Afford assistance with quality control activities and departmental operations
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to support quality patient care
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of obstetrical, gynecological, abdominal, and vascular ultrasound imaging
- Proficiency with imaging systems, EMR, and healthcare technology
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient care skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse patient populations and clinical settings
Work Environment
- Direct patient care role requiring frequent standing, walking, and equipment operation
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, and other healthcare-related hazards may occur in a clinical setting
