About the role

The Diagnostic Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. Diagnostic testing includes X-ray, CAT scan, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, interventional procedures, and PET/CT procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision.
  • Operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results.
  • Manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards.
  • Ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
  • Participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.
  • Supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

Qualifications

  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except Ultrasound.
  • ARDMS is required for Ultrasound.
  • NMTCB or ARRT(N) for PET/CT.
  • Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
  • NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially to work.
  • ARRT expires on incumbent’s date of birth and must be renewed annually to work.

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality patient care standards.
