About the role
The Ultrasonographer conducts diagnostic ultrasound procedures under physician supervision, utilizing advanced ultrasound technology to aid in diagnosing medical conditions across all age groups.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of ultrasound exams such as abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, neuro, small parts, interventional, and Doppler.
- Apply sterile techniques for invasive procedures and ensure proper patient positioning and transducer selection.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and support systems like HIS, RIS, PACS, and coordinate with offsite radiologist services.
- Review patient histories, document studies accurately, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with medical staff and departments to ensure efficient, quality care and participate in department quality improvement initiatives.
- Care for and image patients of all ages, maintain equipment, and manage supplies.
- Support clinical education by training diagnostic medical sonography students and adhere to program standards.
- Access and administer drugs and biologicals as per hospital procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- ARDMS certification in abdomen and OBGYN within three months of hire, with additional certification in neonatal neurosonography or pediatric sonography within 24 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
