Ultrasonographer PRN - Our Lady of Lourdes Women's and Children's Hospital

Responsibilities

• Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures.
• Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
• Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
• Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
• Clocks Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
• Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
• Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
• Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
• Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
• Adheres to infection control practices.
• Routinely cleans equipment and probes and reports problems to service.
• Has service performed monthly PM’s on equipment.
• Completes Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
• Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials, etc.
• Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the Ultrasound Department.
• Affords assistance in other areas of the department as workload permits.
• Keeps areas well stocked at all times.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasound program.
• Licensure: Board Eligible: American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography, Active and unrestricted A.R.D.M.S certification OR CCI-RCS, Basic Life Support, BLS-HCP
