As a non-profit organization, we provide financial assistance to eligible patients so everyone can access essential mammography services, regardless of their financial circumstances. Pay and Benefits

• Pay: $42.77 - $72.72 per hour based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities

Schedule

• 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week)
• 8-hour shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday with occasional Saturdays

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams in accordance with ARDMS standards and ethics
• Prepares patient for ultrasound exam with thorough explanation of procedures and clear instructions
• Obtains a thorough patient history as it relates to the exam to be completed
• Reviews the patient’s chart and physician’s request to determine optimal scanning parameters for suspected pathology
• Verifies patient consent and ensures understanding of risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up
• Accurately implements the orders of the referring physician
• Performs breast examinations with accuracy
• Presents ultrasound examinations to the Radiologist in a professional and precise manner
• Assists patient to scanning table and positions patient and equipment appropriately
• Utilizes appropriate ultrasound devices, frequencies, and transducers
• Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination
• Performs examinations in a timely manner
• Follows and documents scan protocol and/or Radiologist prescription of parameters without error
• Evaluates images for technical quality and ensures proper identification is recorded
• Prepares informed consent for and assists Radiologist with interventional procedures (e.g., needle localizations, aspirations, biopsies)
• Practices aseptic techniques as necessary
• Assists Radiologist in reviewing completed studies
• Completes all documentation, paperwork, imaging, and archiving necessary to maintain patient files
• Reports and documents any negative effects the patient may have experienced
• Completes Modality Worksheet with accurate information for the Radiologist
• Maintains high standards regarding the accurate recording of patient information
• Presents high-quality ultrasound images and pertinent patient history to the Radiologist for interpretation
• Utilizes accurate written and oral communications with patients, physicians, co-workers, and supervisors
• Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills with patients and family members
• Performs necessary computer functions associated with patient exams (PACS and EPIC)
• Keeps work area and patient exam areas neat and stocked with appropriate supplies
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel
• Maintains professional demeanor and confidentiality
• Cooperates and maintains good rapport with co-workers to ensure proper patient care and efficient workflow
• Travels to other sites as needed
• Checks work email daily
• Maintains confidentiality of all center and patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
• Follows the center’s exposure controls plan for bloodborne and airborne pathogens
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate from an Accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required
• ARDMS registry eligible or Abdomen & OB/GYN preferred
• Breast, Vascular, MSK, NT, and pediatrics registries a plus/preferred
• Current BLS certification required

Skills

• Able to perform a variety of examinations pertaining to the Abdomen, Pelvis, OB (1st, 2nd, 3rd Trimester), Biophysical Profile, and Small Parts (including Breast, Scrotal, and Thyroid)
• Understanding of human anatomy, physics, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology
• Exercises precautions in patient applications respecting biological effects between ultrasound and tissue
• Thorough, accurate, and demonstrates sound judgment and good time management skills
• Demonstrates sincere interest in every patient and their well-being; sympathetic and empathetic with patients requiring special care
• Uses appropriate communication style, language, and volume in clinic settings
• Ability to recognize urgent/emergent findings
• Demonstrates effective customer service skills using AIDET/4 As
• Works effectively in a team environment with respectful behavior toward co-workers
• Communicates professionally with other medical facilities, patients, and customers

Physical Requirements

• Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements
• Ability to assist in supporting patients of varying weight
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment
