UICC Walk-in Clinics Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner ARNP 60-100% (Multiple Openings)

Basic Function And Responsibility

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The ARNP will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate.

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide care responsibilities in both our QuickCare and Urgent Care Clinics, will rotate clinical sites.
    • Urgent Care requires at least 6 months of prior experience.
  • Obtain medical history and perform physical examination.
    • Assess, assist, diagnose and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings.
    • Perform or assist in and interpret the performance of laboratory and related studies.
    • Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, the suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation and other clinical procedures.
  • Assist in arranging for continued care such as but not limited to: transfer to the Emergency Treatment Center; follow-up care or establishment of care with a primary care provider; and/or follow-up consultations (including referrals to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians as indicated by patients’ problems).
  • Perform and screen results of special medical exams including but not limited to electrocardiogram, radiography, audiometric and vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function screening tests.
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health on matters such as diets, disease, therapy, and normal growth and development.
  • Evaluate, treat and institute procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to urgent medical problems.
  • Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies and resources in order to facilitate the appropriate referral of patients.
  • Order medications and administer drugs.
  • Direct other medical personnel and health professionals in the execution of patient care.
  • Participate in educating health care students in various programs.
  • Participate in committees within the division, department, College of Medicine and University of Iowa Health Care.

Salary

$87,632 - $158,296 (Salary is based on years of experience)

Position Qualifications

  • Education Required: ARNP: Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
  • Required Qualifications: Current board certification (FNP) in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required. Current license to practice as an ARNP in state of Iowa.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as an ARNP. Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice is required. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population (of all ages) within a highly functioning unit/department. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Proved capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification (obtained within first 6 months of employment).
  • Desirable Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of acute patient care ARNP experience within Emergency Department, Urgent Care and/or Walk-In Clinic area(s), Family Medicine. Some knowledge of University policies and procedures. Previous EPIC experience. Comfortable with technology and leveraging video, or the desire to learn.
