UI/UX Designer
KBR is seeking a UI/UX Designer in Colorado Springs, CO. You will tackle new problems in a fast-paced environment, producing value based on outcomes and providing solutions that exceed customer expectations. Work closely with a Product Manager and Software Engineers on a balanced team to create desirable experiences for end-users while meeting business and stakeholder objectives.

Join KBR and contribute to cutting-edge projects supporting the U.S. Space Force's mission-critical operations. You’ll work on systems for real-time satellite communication, space domain awareness, and defense technology, leveraging DevSecOps, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible. This role offers a collaborative Agile environment where cross-functional teams unite under a mission-first mindset to drive innovation and rapid iteration.
Responsibilities
- Participate in research to discover and define opportunities
- Propose multiple design options and weigh the benefits and risks of each approach
- Effectively communicate chosen designs with users, stakeholders, management, and developers through components, design patterns, design systems, style guides, and finished solutions
- Collaborate with developers throughout implementation to ensure the final build aligns with the intended vision and solves the identified problems
- Provide team guidance on overall look and feel and enforce design standards
- Mentor junior designers or contribute to team skill growth
- Conduct workshops, design sprints, and facilitation sessions
- Map design decisions to user needs and business requirements, ensuring measurable impact
- Balance business goals, technical constraints, and user needs
Requirements
- Must reside in the Colorado Springs area
- Active U.S. government Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI SI/TK (U.S. citizenship required)
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or related discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing large and small-scale websites and apps
- Proficiency with prototyping and collaboration tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, Axure)
- Experience with version control and design collaboration tools (Abstract, Zeplin, Storybook)
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and how design contributes in an Agile environment
- Experience designing responsive interfaces for desktop and mobile web applications
- Understanding of front-end technologies (CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, HTML5, Angular) and familiarity with RestAPI
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and persuasive skills
- Strong stakeholder management and storytelling skills to present design decisions
- Portfolio demonstrating variety, versatility, and the impact/value of solutions
- Passion for designing visually appealing interfaces that excite end-users and deliver a rewarding experience
- Familiarity with enterprise SaaS, mobile apps, or government systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, healthcare, or finance industries
- Experience with Data Visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Python)
- Experience identifying and building KPIs to provide data-based decision-making recommendations

Pay
Base compensation: $103,200 - $154,700 (for the Colorado Springs area only). The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience, and in consideration of internal parity. Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
