About the role

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) provides comprehensive care, education, and research to the people of Illinois and beyond. Responsibilities

  • Completes required orientation program and unit-specific competencies.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physicians, physician assistants, and/or advanced practice nurses by performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Shares information and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to promote effective patient care.
  • Recognizes and treats cancer-related issues.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to changing patient needs.
  • Educates patients and families regarding treatment expectations.
  • Advocates for patients, families, significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
  • Demonstrates commitment to UI Health values through teamwork and effective communication to achieve quality outcomes, patient safety, customer satisfaction, and a clean, safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Current AHA BLS/CPR certification and any required unit-specific certifications.
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills that facilitate therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • One year of prior RN experience required.
  • Current Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification required prior to hire.

Qualifications

  • Outpatient ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.

Skills

Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Pay

The previously determined range for this position was $36.08/hr to $80.98/hr*. Final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position. This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.
