Overview

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Nursing Grads for their Nurse Residency Program. Qualified candidates can earn a sign-on incentive of up to $7,500.

Responsibilities

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Affirms patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Follows universal precautions.

Requirements

The Nurse Residency Program at the University of Iowa is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Through your first year as a Registered Nurse at UI Health Care, you will receive additional support and training from the Nurse Residency Program Coordinator, Nurse Educators, and clinically experienced preceptors. Monthly Resident Program classes/meetings will supplement your unit based orientation with additional hands on training, expert lectures and facilitator lead small group discussions.

Qualifications

  • Must include the month and year of your anticipated graduation.
  • Include information from your internship/externship experiences and clinical rotation experiences.
  • Describe the experience (summer externship, senior internship, preceptorship, role transition, clinical rotation).
  • Include the hospital or facility where these were completed.
  • Include the type of unit you were working on.
  • Include the hours completed in each area.
  • Include the dates of each clinical (month and year).
  • Include certifications you have earned during your work experiences or academic nursing program (i.e. ACLS/PALS, CNA, etc).

Pay

$60,000 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.
