UHC - Surgical Services Assistant

About the role

The Surgical Suite and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment by performing tasks related to room turnover, equipment cleaning, and patient transport.

Responsibilities

• Perform room turnover duties including trash and linen removal, furniture wiping, kick buckets, tables, etc., and floor cleaning.
• Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, including anesthesia equipment, according to AORN Recommended Practices.
• Clean Pyxis supply cabinets and restock housekeeping supplies as needed.
• Transport case carts between Central Sterile Department and operating rooms.
• Assist in transporting and transferring patients as required.
• Participate in the education of new staff members.
• Assist in terminal disinfection of operating rooms and sterile processing areas.
• Adhere to sterile field protocols and assist staff in gowning and gloving for procedures.
• Work in a physically demanding environment, including exposure to water, soap, biohazards, and hazardous chemicals.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include obtaining BLS certification within 30 days of hire. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
