UHC- Supply Chain Technician

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data input experience.
• One (1) year work experience in inventory management or warehouse distribution.

Responsibilities

• Assists and communicates with Buyers and/or Supply Chain leadership to maintain appropriate inventory levels and provides PAR level recommendations as needed.
• Maintains an understanding of supply automation system(s) for daily restocking, inventory adjustments, and PAR level management, if applicable.
• Maintains an understanding of the Medical Material Information System (MMIS) software and other technical equipment.
• Enters, fills, and delivers all supply requisitions.
• Delivers supplies throughout the hospital in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assists hospital employees with ordering supplies, including walk-up and emergency orders.
• Enters patient charges and labels supplies with charge stickers if applicable.
• Follows departmental policies on attire when stocking specialty areas (e.g., OR and Sterile Processing).
• Assists in mailroom functions, including daily shipping (FedEx, UPS, etc.).
• Maintains storeroom area, answers phones, and provides full coverage.
• Disposes of all trash properly.
• Participates in physical inventories and conducts routine cycle counts to ensure appropriate inventory levels.
• Performs verification procedures before accepting materials from carriers, including physical verification and documentation.
• Documents shipments on official records and maintains bone and tissue documentation for chain of custody per TJC standards.
• Places merchandise and paperwork in proper areas and handles discrepancies in the physical verification process.
• Keeps dock, storeroom, and receiving areas clean and orderly.
• Operates material handling equipment (pallet jack, carts, and hand trucks) safely.
• Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and provides excellent customer service.
• Assists in courier runs both in and out of state.
• Restocks supply items and performs routine checks for expired products on code carts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
• Follows departmental and hospital policies.

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity and physical ability to stand, walk, and handle materials for prolonged periods.
• Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and pushing loaded carts weighing in excess of 600 pounds.
• Must possess visual and oral acuity.

• Cognizant of environmental factors and infection control issues, maintaining a safe environment.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, write, and understand English proficiently.
• Math skills necessary to count, inventory, and convert each/box/case quantities.
• Excellent communication skills (both phone and personal).
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
• Understanding and practice of excellent personal hygiene.
• Ability to be scheduled based on operational needs of the hospital.
• Ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with coworkers, staff, and guests.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and follows the correct chain of command in handling challenges and issues, including crisis situations.
• Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and meet work schedules, integrating multiple factors that may impact patient care.
