Minimum Qualifications

  • Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: High school graduate/equivalent; BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience: One (1) year of patient care assistant experience and/or clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post high school business or secretarial or computer training.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Notary Public for the State of West Virginia or obtain within 6 months of hire date and keep it up-to-date.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs direct patient care as assigned, applying good judgment and knowledge of skills required within the realm of job responsibility 100% of the time.
  • Reports all pertinent observations and concerns directly to the nurse 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Documents in the Electronic Medical Record as per policy 100% of the time.
  • Performs clerical skills including use of computer, copier, fax, phones, etc., 100% of the time.
  • Maintains patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, completes skills checklist, and correctly performs these skills daily as required.
  • Answers call bells according to hospital standards.
  • Uses equipment appropriately.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing nursing duties throughout the work shift.
  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds.
  • Visual acuity must be within normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range is required (e.g., to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors, etc.).
  • Must be able to read and write legibly in English.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and position patients of all weights, with varying amounts of assistance, in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.

Working Environment

  • Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps, and explosive gases.
  • Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
  • Exposure to high stress and constant interruptions.
  • Exposure to electrical current.
  • Exposure to radiation from x-rays.

Schedule: 36 hours per week, Day shift.
