About the role

Repairs, services, and troubleshoots malfunctions on aircraft drive train and rotor systems. Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as rotor systems, transmissions, drive trains, and their components. Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems. Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services. Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft power train systems using special tools and test equipment as required. Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.

Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages, and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives. Maintains and repairs aircraft power train components. Applies technical knowledge of power train systems in determining equipment malfunctions and uses required expertise in restoring equipment condition and/or operation. Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required. Performs other duties as requested.

Responsibilities

• Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks
• Lead teams through complex aircraft tasks
• Inspect aeronautical maintenance performed by mechanics
• Make entries in aircraft logs and records

Requirements

• Valid up-to-date A&P license OR three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned prop and rotor experience (all experience must be within the six most recent years)
• Training to Military Occupational Specialty or Original Equipment Manufacturer Maintenance course standards for the airframe type on which maintenance will be performed
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, NAC-I T1 Public Trust (US Citizenship required)
• Must possess own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and micrometers
• Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems
• Ability to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
• Experience leading teams through complex aircraft tasks
• Experience inspecting aeronautical maintenance performed by mechanics

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
• Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds (most heavy lifting is accomplished through mechanical devices)
• May work in aircraft maintenance hangars or outside
• May be required to respond to operational circumstances including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure
• May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts

Pay

$37.83 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate listed is a good-faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
