About the role

The UH60 Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in various aircraft systems, including but not limited to:

  • Aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls
  • Anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems

Responsibilities

Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components, reads and interprets maintenance manuals, performs inspections, listens to engine operation, and performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance.

  • Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft
  • Enters descriptions of work performed in maintenance records and verifies satisfactory completion of work
  • May service engines and airframe components at line station
  • May specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies
  • May specialize in engine repair

Requirements

Valid up-to-date A&P license, or three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned MDS (UH60).

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

Good communication skills, adaptable, diversified, and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system. Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles. Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures. Ability to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices, and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models. Ability to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required. Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
