UH-60 Aircraft Mechanic 1

UH60 Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots and repairs aircraft systems including structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation/heating systems.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures (wings, fuselage) and functional components (rigging, surface controls, plumbing, hydraulic units) using hand/power tools and equipment.
• Interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical/engineering data to determine repair feasibility and methods.
• Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other inspections on reciprocating and jet engines.
• Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, distortions, warping, wear, or missing segments.
• Test engine operation using diagnostic equipment (ignition analyzer, compression checker, Jetcal tester) to locate malfunctions.
• Replace/repair worn/damaged engine components (carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel/oil pumps, gearboxes, bleed valves) using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
• Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair/replace defective engine parts, and reinstall engines using hoists/forklifts.
• Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
• Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections; service aircraft (flushing crankcase, cleaning filters, greasing parts, checking brakes).
• Supervise aircraft jacking/towing; document maintenance records and verify work completion.
• Service engines/airframe components at line stations for safe operating condition.
• Specialize in structural, precision, or functional spare parts repair/modification or engine repair as needed.
• Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid up-to-date A&P license or:
  • 3 years aviation maintenance experience
  • 2 years rotary wing aircraft experience
  • 2 years on UH60 MDS
  All experience must be within the last 6 years.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain facility credentials/authorization (US citizenship required).
• Must possess own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.

Skills

• Strong communication and adaptability to troubleshoot entire aircraft systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical systems, and quality control/production/supply procedures.
• Proficiency with hand tools, measuring devices (gauges, torque wrenches), and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to determine repair/replacement needs for faulty systems and interpret technical data.

Physical Requirements

• Climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring/uncomfortable positions.
• Frequently lift up to 20 lbs; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs (mechanical devices assist heavy lifting).
• Work in hangars or outdoors; respond to operational circumstances including extreme weather/rudimentary infrastructure.
• Exposure to extreme noise, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.

Pay

Hourly rate varies based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable agreements.
