UC Assistant Teacher
About the role
The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years. We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well-being. We are currently seeking an Assistant Teacher to work in our UC LTFC Program.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the delivery of six hours of culturally diverse structured education, Monday through Friday
- Aid UC Teacher in classroom management and instruction
- Administer initial education assessments
- Develop educational goals in conjunction with the UC Teacher
- Complete Progress Reports
- Upload all required documentation to the UAC Portal
- Ensure compliance with ORR policies and procedures
- Contribute to the development of the curriculum
- Classroom coverage as needed
- Complete UC Portal documentation
- Maintain UC paper and electronic records
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree, Experience working in a classroom or providing education, Bilingual Spanish / English
- PREFERRED Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field, Certification by a relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language certification
