About the role
The Instructor will teach an integrated academic Science (Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) class to students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
Responsibilities
- Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids.
- Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
- Assist with the planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving activities.
- Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
- Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs.
- Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
- Aid in the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
Requirements
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school, or post-secondary level.
Qualifications
- Complete a background clearance check.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- Knowledge of educational technology and resources.
