About the role
High School Language Arts Instructor for English I, II, III, and IV. Conduct an integrated academic language arts (English I, English II, English III, English IV) class. Teach students learning strategies. Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class. Assist with tutoring and problem-solving activities. Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management. Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs. Report student learning and behavioral issues to appropriate staff personnel. Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
Responsibilities
- Conduct an integrated academic language arts (English I, English II, English III, English IV) class.
- Teach students learning strategies.
- Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
- Assist with tutoring and problem-solving activities.
- Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
- Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs.
- Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
- Absentee policy: Attend training and meetings. Provide 24-hour notice for absences. Classroom work must be prepared for students and the TA must be prepared to deliver work to students in the absence of an instructor.
- Transport students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring proper supervision and safety of students.
Requirements
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
- Complete a background clearance check.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
Qualifications
- Ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.

Pay
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate for this position is $40.00 (USD).
Schedule
This is a part-time position.
