UAW Production Assistant II - 1st Shift

About the role

This position is the first step in building a unit, responsible for the assembly and framework of each unit.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and prepare the aluminum (skins) to be mounted on the unit's frame (skeleton).
• Use simple hand tools such as drills, pop rivet guns, clamps, and measuring tape.
• Clean and prepare the unit's surfaces using AP1-11.
• Utilize highly adhesive mounting tapes.
• Train and qualify to operate a sizeable overhead crane for positioning and relocating partial and completed units.
• Prepare units for painting.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and use measuring tape.
• Be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical engineering documents provided.
• Be able to read, comprehend, and follow written work instructions and plans.
• Operate Windows and OS2 computers and mobile devices and use the appropriate authorized business applications, including PYRO and Outlook.
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility with work schedule and assignments to meet production demand.
• Demonstrate a constant awareness of safety issues, use equipment correctly, and immediately report any hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors to the appropriate Supervisor or Group Lead.
• Maintain all required training, qualifications, and certifications as required, including Environmental, Health, and Safety Training, Job Training Qualifications, and additional technical or skill-specific Certifications.
• Requires some physical ability, such as moderate lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required; sponsorship will not be provided.
