UAS Engineering Project Manager
About the role
The Engineering Project Manager will lead the development, manufacturing, and sustainment of cutting-edge VTOL UAS. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will manage multiple cross-functional teams and ensure projects are executed efficiently from proposal to successful production launch.
Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains the master engineering project schedule and risks and issues register, ensuring all necessary engineering deliverables and coordination are accounted for.
- Drives project team’s weekly goals setting and achievements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of status with frequent small meetings and minimized large group meetings.
- Ensures all necessary engineering deliverables and coordination are accounted for in the project activity, including approvals, BOM, drawing release, work-instruction development, configuration control, hardware lead-times, inspections, manufacturing trials, manufacturing tool-kits, parts kits, verification testing, and reporting.
- Identifies and tracks risks and issues, determines dependencies, prioritizes, acquires disposition, ownership assignment, and activity to mitigate and resolve.
- Forecasts, identifies, and removes obstacles from project teams’ path, ensuring project team may maintain focus on core deliverables with minimal delay.
- Creates work breakdown structure (WBS) from team member input and completes with missing fundamental steps to achieve project deliverable.
- Analyzes and identifies high-level milestones, dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, risk and issues, and cost.
- Creates weekly status briefs and materials for project reviews.
- Maintains list of backlog projects and efforts and ensures periodic review and disposition of priority.
- Develops and continually improves the engineering project management function, its process and tools.
- Coordinates and performs necessary hands-on technical work, engineering change process (EC) documentation, and administrative work otherwise unassigned to project team.
Requirements
- Must possess a Bachelors of Science degree or greater in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of professional experience with a combination of the following: five years as a product development engineer, performing development engineering and leading hardware product through phases of the engineering development cycle, including design, drawing release, selection of supplier, sourcing and testing prototypes, resolving pre-production issues, and successful production launch.
- Five years’ experience as project manager, managing multiple engineering projects, and project teams through all phases of the design and development cycle.
- Experienced in producing integrated project schedules and reports in MS Project, or like system, identifying dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, cost, and risk and issues.
- Basic technical knowledge of UAS, its subsystems, and technology.
Qualifications
- Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license).
- Minimal travel.
- Onsite at Bingen, WA.
Skills
- PDM/ERP Experience managing or supporting software development projects in compliance with DO-178 certification standards for airborne systems.

Pay
Annual salary range based on the required profile: $143k - $229k
