UAS Build Technician

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, modify, and maintain multi-rotor and fixed-wing UAS platforms.
• Familiar with a range of materials and components used in UAV construction, such as carbon fiber, aluminum alloys and various power plants.
• Install, operate, and tune small 2-stroke and 4-stroke internal combustion engines.
• Program and configure UAV autopilot systems (e.g., Pixhawk, Ardupilot) and telemetry equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electrical, mechanical, and flight control systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, pilots, government leads, and project managers to deliver reliable UAV solutions.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with operational standards, regulations, and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with COTS multi-rotor and fixed-wing UAVs, including hobbyist or professional experience.
• Proficiency with hand tools and experience building/flying radio control aircraft.
• Familiarity with construction materials such as foam, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and aluminum alloys.
• Strong knowledge of small internal combustion engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke).
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment under limited instruction.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow complex technical instructions.
• High School Diploma with 3–5 years of experience.
• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Desired FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Experience with RPVs (land, air, sea) platforms.

Pay

Pay Range: $63,300 - 129,700 USD

Factors such as geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications can influence final salary.
