About the role

This position encompasses transporting checked baggage to specified areas of the airport, lifting checked baggage on and off carts, containers, and conveyances. Transport checked baggage from designated x-ray/screening devices or hand search areas to the baggage conveyor belts. Load baggage as needed into tubs on a baggage conveyor belt. Transport oversize baggage and/or live animals from the baggage check-in area to the baggage room. Ensure and maintain a supply of baggage tubs for the conveyor belts at all times. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with time constraints to meet arrival and departure goals. A professional and positive image must be consistently displayed by the employee.

Responsibilities

• Transport checked baggage to specified areas of the airport
• Lift checked baggage on and off carts, containers, and conveyances
• Transport checked baggage from designated x-ray/screening devices or hand search areas to the baggage conveyor belts
• Load baggage as needed into tubs on a baggage conveyor belt
• Transport oversize baggage and/or live animals from the baggage check-in area to the baggage room
• Ensure and maintain a supply of baggage tubs for the conveyor belts at all times

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required
• Ability to read, fluently speak, and understand the English language
• Must be free of disqualifying crimes
• Able to pass a pre-employment and random drug test
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and days off

Physical demands

• Frequently required to stand and walk continuously for 8–10 hours without sitting for long periods of time
• Use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; converse and hear
• Must be able to work in tight places
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. and push luggage carts
• Specific vision abilities required: close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
