About the role

The Samaritan's Purse Rebuild program is committed to meeting the critical needs of victims of natural disasters who have lost their homes. We stand ready to respond at a moment's notice, wherever and whenever disaster strikes. The Rebuild team specializes in constructing and providing shelter while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. When disaster relief efforts have concluded, our U.S. Rebuild team remains at disaster sites to provide ongoing support to families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support for the rebuild team, such as answering phones, corresponding through emails, filing, and other clerical needs.
  • Aid site staff with general day-to-day finance needs, including daily P-card tracking, petty cash transactions, vendor requests, and payment processing.
  • Support the beneficiary services team by answering phones, making outgoing calls for follow-up, and documenting beneficiary information.
  • Assist with ministering to approved beneficiaries at the rebuild site, which may involve accompanying staff to events, beneficiary home visits, and dedications.
  • Coordinate volunteers at the rebuild site, welcoming them, providing safety orientation, tracking volunteer hours, and ensuring a quality volunteer experience.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Have 2-5 years of proven work experience in applicable career fields.
  • Have general knowledge of basic accounting.
  • Have experience with general office functions.
  • Have experience in casework, social work, or church ministry.
  • Have leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail.
  • Be available on short notice (1 week) for immediate 1-6 week deployments, 5 days/week, 1-2 times a year.
  • Be willing to work in unstable, insecure areas.
  • Have demonstrated experience in administrative and volunteer settings.
  • Be willing to work in challenging living conditions.
  • Be able to work as a member of a team.
  • Have a teaching experience (though not required).

Skills

Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn new tasks.

Benefits

Compensation is activated upon deployment; Samaritan's Purse provides compensation and covers response-related living and travel costs.
