U.S. Probation Officer or Probation Officer Assistant

U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Officers play an integral role in the administration of justice, community safety, conducting objective investigations, supervising defendants and persons under supervision, interacting with collateral agencies, preparing reports, maintaining a detailed written record of case activity, and presenting recommendations to the Court.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and prepare bail and presentence reports for the Court.
• Supervise defendants and persons under supervision to reduce risk to the community and foster lawful self-management.
• Conduct objective investigations.
• Interact with collateral agencies.
• Maintain a detailed written record of case activity.
• Present recommendations to the Court.

Location & Travel

Open to considering candidates who live in Aberdeen, Sisseton, Milbank, Watertown, or the surrounding area. This position will be supervised out of the Aberdeen office, so occasional travel will be required.
