About the role

The Quality Management department ensures that our cars meet all customer expectations and BMW internal requirements. As the voice of the customer within the plant, we steer new topics, manage the problem-solving process, and oversee both daily production and new product launches. The internship blends regular reporting tasks with project-based work in office and hands-on settings.

Responsibilities

• Analyze new problems in daily production and launches
• Test solutions to ensure robustness for production
• Support launch and series problem-solving teams as needed
• Create regular reports on the current quality landscape
• Develop, maintain, and streamline quality management systems using tools such as Oracle/SQL, APEX, VBA/MS Office, and BMW-specific systems
• Participate in root-cause analysis, data gathering, containment measures, process improvements, data analysis, and validation of solutions and poke-yokes

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field
• Basic programming knowledge preferred (Matlab, Python, VBA, SQL)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
• Completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application
• Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week)
• Transfer students must have a GPA from their current university
• Must attach a copy of unofficial transcript
• Must complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term
• Must remain an enrolled student during all three rotations
