About This Role

We're seeking passionate, nurturing, and creative early childhood educators to join our vibrant teaching community at 2nd Presbyterian Weekday School. Co-Teacher needed for our 2-year-old classroom starting the 2026–2027 school year!

What You'll Do

  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment by leading by example and supporting teaching team success through modeling best practices and offering guidance when needed.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through consistent communication, including informal conversations, progress updates, parent events, and conferences.
  • Plan and facilitate both individual and small/large group experiences that actively engage children and support their social, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate in weekly planning sessions with your co-teacher or mentor teacher to design and implement engaging curriculum aligned with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with all center policies and state licensing regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming classroom environment, including upholding high standards for cleanliness, hygiene, and child safety.
  • Keep accurate and organized records, documentation, and classroom materials.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth by maintaining a personal development plan and participating in continuous quality improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Must clear a full background check and must pass health screening.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
  • May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field of study.
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in early childhood education preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with degree and experience. Benefits include:

  • Tuition Support for Staff Children: Children of staff may attend the school (space permitting). Registration fees are waived, and partial tuition scholarships may be available.
  • Complimentary Extended Day Care: Enrolled children of staff may attend extended day programming at no cost when the staff member is working during those hours.
  • Retirement Benefits: Staff working an average of 20+ hours per week are eligible to participate in a SIMPLE IRA. Employee contributions are unlimited, and 2nd Presbyterian provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to 3% of wages.

Position Details

  • The school year runs from August through May, following a traditional academic calendar.
  • This Co-Teacher position in our 2-year-old classrooms is Monday–Friday, approximately 20+ hours per week, with hours from 8:45 AM – 12:45 PM.

  • Specialist Support: Classrooms are enriched by additional staff including a Music Teacher, Movement Teacher, Art Specialist, and Early Interventionist. A Speech-Language Pathologist is also available as needed.

  • Professional Growth: Ongoing education incentives are available. The school also covers registration fees for relevant early childhood conferences (such as LECA, KECA, SECA, and NAEYC) as well as required CPR and pediatric first aid training.

  • Year-Round Pay: Although the program follows an academic calendar (including Christmas and Spring Breaks), staff receive consistent pay throughout the year.

Classroom & Daily Support

  • Each classroom is provided with a petty cash fund, ensuring teachers are not expected to purchase classroom materials out-of-pocket.
  • Access to shared resources including a laminating machine, copier, and a dedicated classroom computer for planning, documentation, and communication.
  • Teachers are encouraged to utilize shared spaces such as the library, atrium, and other areas of campus for quiet breaks and lunch.

Community & Culture

  • A supportive and appreciative community, including a week-long Teacher Appreciation celebration and regular staff luncheons hosted by board members and families.
