About the role

The Department of Economics and Accounting at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for two full‑time tenure‑track positions specializing in microeconomics, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. Appointments may be at the Assistant Professor level or the Associate Professor (without tenure) level. The College seeks candidates whose research and teaching interests align with development economics, resource and energy economics, behavioral economics, or peace and conflict economics, especially where those interests intersect with issues of education, gender, or race. Successful applicants will be expected to develop effective and engaging teaching practices for both elective courses tied to their research and core courses such as Statistics, Quantitative Microeconomics, and Econometrics, while contributing to the department’s curricular and scholarly breadth, maintaining an active research program, supervising student research, and participating actively in departmental and College life. Each position carries a 3‑2 teaching load, with a one‑course reduction in the first year (2‑2) and start‑up funding to support research and professional development. Holy Cross provides generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty, and eligible assistant professors may receive a research leave prior to tenure review (either a full year at 80 % salary or a semester at full salary). All appointments include full benefits. The College emphasizes the linkage of academic excellence and inclusive excellence, fostering classroom environments where all students feel a sense of belonging, are valued, and can flourish through evidence‑based teaching strategies. Academic freedom is a cornerstone of the institution’s intellectual and moral community.
