Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Economics

Southern Utah University, located in Cedar City, Utah, seeks two tenure-track Assistant Professors of Economics.

About the role

Permanent, tenure-track position teaching economics in both face-to-face and online environments.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 courses per semester at all levels of lower- and upper-division Economics, including:
  • Principles of Economics (Micro and Macro)
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Managerial Economics
  • Econometrics
• Meet scholarly or professional engagement requirements to maintain AACSB qualifications as a Scholarly Academic per the School of Business AACSB Faculty Qualification Policy.
• Publish in relevant peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
• Engage with and mentor students, including advising undergraduate and graduate students on research projects, careers, and graduate educational opportunities in Economics.
• Assist in recruitment and placement.
• Assume an active role in the planning and governance of the institution through service on department, school, and campus-wide committees.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field (ABD accepted; foreign equivalent degree accepted).
• Demonstrable ability to teach economics at the university level in both face-to-face and online environments.
• Demonstrable ability to engage with students in co- and extra-curricular activities.
• Empirical (using R and STATA) and theoretical economics research experience.
