TWIN Traffic Reporter
About the role
Audacy’s San Francisco/Northwest Region’s TWIN Division has a rare, full-time Traffic/Weather Producer/Reporter position based at All-News KCBS Radio in San Francisco, the Bay Area’s number one news station. This role is ideal for an audacious, tech-savvy broadcast journalist with a positive attitude, impressive work ethic, and a passion for storytelling. You should excel at translating complex information (e.g., dispatcher-speak, weather data) into clear, engaging content for listeners. A high comfort level with IT, social media (Instagram, TikTok), and digital platforms is essential. The position requires working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom, collaborating with editors and producers, and maintaining a flexible schedule that may include evenings, overnights, and/or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Report live from the newsroom over multiple hours on KCBS Radio and other Audacy/non-Audacy stations.
- Gather, write, record, edit, and deliver traffic, weather, and news content, including live coverage.
- Conceptualize, pitch, produce, and voice live and/or recorded traffic/weather segments.
- Interview traffic/weather newsmakers and write scripts or ad-lib material for stories.
- Use social media (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) during shifts to engage listeners, promote content, and highlight station material.
- Contribute audio, video, and written content to Audacy’s digital platforms.
- Develop and research potential traffic/weather stories.
- Provide live reads of sponsors within designated reports, log commercials, mentions, entitlements, and discrepancies.
- Record sponsor spec and demo spots as needed.
- Make station appearances as required.
- Protect the station’s FCC licenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in traffic, weather, sports, or news reporting for broadcast media.
- Computer literacy with excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Experience in a major market is a plus.
- Must be willing to join SAG-AFTRA (Union Code 105) and eligible for SAG-AFTRA benefits.
Pay
The anticipated starting salary range for California-based individuals is $63,809.74/year. Final salary will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
