TV Transmitter Engineer

TV Tansmitter Engineer Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated TV Transmitter Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of multiple radio and television broadcast facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable transmission across analog and HD radio systems, as well as TV broadcast infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with solid-state transmitters, particularly Gates and Nautel systems, and a strong understanding of RF principles. Key Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot RF transmission systems for FM (analog and HD Radio), and TV broadcast stationsPerform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on solid-state transmitters, including Gates and Nautel equipmentMonitor transmitter performance and ensure compliance with FCC regulations and technical standardsDiagnose and resolve issues related to RF, audio chains, STL links, and antenna systemsMaintain accurate technical documentation, logs, and reportsAssist with system upgrades, installations, and integration of new broadcast technologiesCoordinate with programming and operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure signal integrityParticipate in on-call rotation for after-hours technical support Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Broadcast Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience with RF systems in a broadcast environment (radio and/or television)Hands-on experience with Gates and Nautel transmitters preferredStrong understanding of analog and HD Radio systemsFamiliarity with FCC rules and compliance standardsAbility to read and interpret technical schematics and manualsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsValid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple transmitter sites Preferred Skills: Experience with IP-based audio transport and AoIP systemsKnowledge of studio-to-transmitter links (STL), microwave systems, and satellite deliveryBasic networking knowledge (switches, routers, remote access systems)SBE Certification (e.g., CBRE, CBNT) is a plus Work Environment: Combination of indoor technical facilities and outdoor transmitter sitesMay involve climbing, lifting equipment, and working in varying weather conditions Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesMust be able to travel to transmitter sites and other properties as neededClear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via videoOperate standard office equipment and software programsVisual and auditory ability to conduct presentations and review content Benefits: Full-time new hires: Eligible to participate in all Company benefit plans, including: Health, Dental, Vision, and HSA (effective 1st of the month after 30 days; subject to plan terms) Company-paid life insurance and EAP; voluntary short-term disability PTO (accrual-based) and company-paid holidays 401(k) Equal Employment Opportunity Statement WINK News is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
