About the role
Tutoring Russian language at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC)
Responsibilities
- Reliable, timely, and attentive to detail.
- Increase knowledge of Russian 1010 and 1020, 2010, 2020 and other Russian language-related topics, including teaching methods and course materials.
- Develop competence in tutoring, integrating textbooks, assessing student proficiency, and tailoring instruction to individual needs and expectations.
- Communicate effectively with diverse groups, maintaining positive working relationships.
- Attend SLCC classes in the target language to enhance familiarity with course materials and teaching methods.
- Prepare for tutoring by working with students during class times, which also serves as preparatory training.
Knowledge & Skills & Abilities
- Effective communication skills with various abilities and backgrounds.
- Ability to tutor and teach Russian language.
- Ability to work with students from different academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Availability to attend SLCC classes in the target language.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred qualifications include current SLCC student status, language teaching or tutoring experience, and ability to communicate in both English and the target language.
