Tutor, ESL (West)
About the role
Works directly with students, either in one-on-one or small groups to provide academic tutorial assistance, helping students become independent learners that persevere and reach their academic goals.
Responsibilities
- Supports the department’s goal of providing students with supplemental academic support by:
- Providing one-on-one and small group tutoring support
- Providing subject-specific content strategies, attuned to different learning styles and preferences, to help students understand key concepts learned in class
- Directly assisting in the use of equipment and learning materials needed for student's success
- Conducting "class visits" and assisting with publicizing the College’s tutoring services
- Absorbing and maintaining accurate records in accordance to stated deadlines
- Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and according to stated deadlines
- Aiding in the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education and Experience/Training: Associate’s in a field commensurate with needs of the department

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated; Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.; Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
Pay
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $18.03/ hour.
