Responsibilities
- Interprets program to install all tools in the machine and establish offsets and adjust machine offsets to ensure part conformance.
- Performs complete machining of first piece and verifies all dimensions on machines to correspond with drawing.
- Uses instrumentation and gauges, along with shop tools to verify operational drawing requirements and part conformance.
- Reads and understands basic technical drawings/blueprints to produce parts that meet specifications.
- Maintains appropriate machining and operations records.
- Uses precision or standard measuring devices such as scales, inside and outside micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier scales, fixed frame gauges, or special gauges, and profilometers to check machined dimensions and surface finishes conforming to customer prints and/or specifications.
- Exercises care in handling of material before and after the machining operation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience of at least 3 years machining.
- One year of programming experience.
- Must be able to pass aptitude test (Reading, Arithmetic, Mechanical, Spatial) if currently not a Card Journeyman holder.
Skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use hand tools, measuring instruments, and gauges to ensure proper setups and machining operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
