About the role
Meritus Health is seeking a Tumor Registry Specialist to support our cancer program.
Responsibilities
- Abstract and document cancer cases in accordance with standards established by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), FORDS, and Certified Tumor Registrar Association guidelines.
- Conduct case-finding activities by reviewing pathology reports, radiation oncology schedules, and medical oncology records to identify reportable cancer cases.
- Enter and maintain accurate patient and cancer data within electronic registry software.
- Attend and support Cancer, Breast, and GYN conferences, including note-taking and meeting coordination.
- Affiliate with Cancer Committee activities, accreditation surveys, and related documentation.
- Retrieve and process medical records and information requests through EPIC and other systems.
- Track patient follow-up information and maintain compliance with cancer registry standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree required. Completion of at least two semesters of Human Anatomy and/or Physiology coursework. Degree may be in a healthcare-related field such as Health Information Management, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Healthcare Administration, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline.
- Experience: One year of experience in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Certification: Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification required within two years or two testing opportunities following completion of required training.
